Nwamitwa Dam Roads

Design of roads, bridges and culverts

Roads Projects

This project was undertaken through the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) under the Groot Letaba River Water Development Project (GLeWaP). The GLeWaP project involves construction of new Nwamitwa Dam (187 Mm3, 34 m high and 3500 m) crest length as well as raising of the Tzaneen Dam for the purpose of augmenting the water supply from the Groot Letaba River. A number of provincial roads and bridges are affected by the proposed dam, hence the need for realignment of these roads and bridges. South Zambezi Engineering Services undertook the Design of roads R529, P43/3 and D1292, bridges and culverts.
